Pink & purple ombré nails

Pink & purple ombré nails anybody?
Let me teach you the easiest way to achieve these:

Step 1: Apply a light base colour to your nails (i choose baby pink) that will contrast nicely with the darker colour (I choose purple) which you will use for the nail tips or nail ends (whichever you wish the gradient to start from, I did purple to pink gradient). Wait for it to dry (nothing too difficult yet? It gets easier)

Step 2: Grab a makeup sponge or a cloth that's porous, you need a sponge or cloth that's porous so you can create the sponge effect (doesn't work with cotton bud/wool/tip). I used cloth. Next pour small amount of the purple polish onto the and dip the corner of the sponge into the polish. Now dab the sponge onto the tip on the nails, and continue dabbing down to a about a third of the nail, making sure the majority of the polish is on the tip. You want to create a gradient look where the dark eventually fades out toward the bottom of the nail.

Step 3 - Apply a colour that's inbetween the contrasting colours and dab where the two colours meet. This will help all the colours to blend into each other. For this look you can use a dark pink. I left this out and blended both nail colours.

Step 4 - You can finish off by applying a layer of glitter polish over the top and use this to set my gems and fimo clay stars/flowers. I omitted this. Lastly i applied a thick coat of clear polish over the top to seal everything in. Finally, clean up the edges with a cotton bud and varnish remover.

It really is that easy! I was quite pleased as to how it turned out, considering i have never done this nail effect before. I'm looking forward to doing this again in more colours!

Disclaimer: Sorry for the unprofessional picture. It honestly look better than the picture, I swear!

Diamonds - Rihanna

Shine bright like a diamond
Shine bright like a diamond

Find light in the beautiful sea
I choose to be happy
You and I, you and I
We’re like diamonds in the sky

You’re a shooting star I see
A vision of ecstasy
When you hold me, I’m alive
We’re like diamonds in the sky

I knew that we’d become one right away
Oh, right away
At first sight I left the energy of sun rays
I saw the life inside your eyes

So shine bright, tonight you and I
We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky
Eye to eye, so alive
We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky

Shine bright like a diamond
Shine bright like a diamond
Shining bright like a diamond
We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky

Shine bright like a diamond
Shine bright like a diamond
Shining bright like a diamond
We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky

Palms rise to the universe
As we moonshine and molly
Feel the warmth, we’ll never die
We’re like diamonds in the sky

You’re a shooting star I see
A vision of ecstasy
When you hold me, I’m alive
We’re like diamonds in the sky

At first sight I felt the energy of sun rays
I saw the life inside your eyes

So shine bright, tonight you and I
We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky
Eye to eye, so alive
We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky

Shine bright like a diamond
Shine bright like a diamond
Shining bright like a diamond
We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky

Shine bright like a diamond
Shine bright like a diamond
Shining bright like a diamond
We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky

Shine bright like a diamond
Shine bright like a diamond
Shine bright like a diamond

So shine bright, tonight you and I
We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky

Should I start a beauty blog?

I was asked to try it out. Maybe I should. Lets wait and see

Battle Scars lyrics by Lupe Fiasco ft Guy Sebastian

The wound heals but it never does
That’s cause you’re at war with love
You're at war with love, yeah

These battle scars, don’t look like they’re fading
Don’t look like they’re ever going away
They ain't never gonna change
These battle

Never let a wound ruin me
But I feel like ruin's wooing me
Arrow holes that never close from cupid on a shooting spree
Feeling stupid cause I know it ain't no you and me
But when you're trying to beat the odds up
Been trying to keep your nods up and you know that you should know
And let her go but the fear of the unknown
Holding another lover strong sends you back into the zone
With no Tom Hanks to bring you home
A lover not a fighter on the frontline with a poem
Trying to write yourself a rifle
Maybe sharpen up a song
To fight the tanks and drones of you being alone

I wish I never looked, I wish I never touched
I wish that I could stop loving you so much
Cause I’m the only one that's trying to keep us together
When all of the signs say that I should forget her
I wish you weren’t the best, the best I ever had
I wish that the good outweighed the bad
Cause it’ll never be over, until you tell me it's over

These battle scars, don’t look like they’re fading
Don’t look like they’re ever going away
They ain't never gonna change
These battle

(And just leave then)
You shouldn't have but you said it
(And I hope you never come back)
It shouldn't have happened but you let it
Now you're down on the ground screaming medic
The only thing that comes is the post-traumatic stresses
Shields, body armors and vests
Don't properly work, that's why you're in a locker full of hurt
The enemy within and all the fires from your friends
The best medicine is to probably just let her win

I wish I couldn't feel, I wish I couldn't love
I wish that I could stop cause it hurts so much
And I’m the only one that's trying to keep us together
When all of the signs say that I should forget her
I wish you weren’t the best, the best I ever had
I wish that the good outweighed the bad
Cause it’ll never be over, until you tell me it's over

These battle scars, don’t look like they’re fading
Don’t look like they’re ever going away
They ain't never gonna change
These battle

I wish I couldn't feel, I wish I couldn't love
I wish that I could stop cause it hurts so much
And I’m the only one that's trying to keep us together
When all of the signs say that I should forget her
I wish you weren’t the best, the best I ever had
I wish that the good outweighed the bad
Cause it’ll never be over, until you tell me it's over

Cause you've set me on fire
I’ve never felt so alive, yeah

Hoping wounds heal, but it never does
That's because you're at war with love

And I’m at the point of breaking
And it’s impossible to shake it

See, you hoped the wound heals, but it never does
That's cause you're at war with love
Hope it heals, but it never does
That's cause you're at war with love!

These battle scars, don’t look like they’re fading
Don’t look like they’re ever going away
They ain't never gonna change
These battle

These battle scars, don’t look like they’re fading
Don’t look like they’re ever going away
They ain't never gonna change
These battle

Runaway brides - just a sign of cold feet, or immaturity??

Read the thought provoking, heart racking article on runaway brides part 1 & 2

Buying a hdb when we start our adulthood and wait a good 3-4 years for its completion is a huge pressure to many young couples - or just brides.

Pressure; Is it really from friends, family and hdb ?

I beg to differ.

Been dating for 6 years. Planned and applied for a small hdb unit 3 years ago and we are about to collect my keys in a month of so. I don't have any cold feet now and i don't even see it coming. I just worry about bills (that we need to single handedly manage without any parents support all the way from rom to wedding to Reno to honeymoon) and i am pretty much excited about my next phase of life as a married woman in my own new house starting my small little family.

To me it's simple.

1)You fall in true love, 2) you find your life partner 3) both discuss and plan future 4) always work things during problems out unless its trust and loyalty issues 5) make important decisions - house, marriage

I just think the words "cold feet" are the lamest excuse for immature brats who rather be single and not tied down.

Don't kill me, it's just my point of view.

I ultimately love peace! :P

Around the world for anyone?

Interested in a round the world trip but think its impossible?

Think again.

Let me give you a quick guide on how easy it takes one to do this, as well as answer all your dying questions:

1. Time

You want to see the world but with 14 days annual leave in a year, you ask me how is it ever going to be possible?

Simple. Break your round the world trip in parts. You don't need to see the world at one go, you won't enjoy much of it anyway.

My traveling tip for those who are tight on time, will be to travel by region. Start with Asia (because I'm from Singapore, do so accordingly to wherever you stay) and move around year by year. Saves you money this way too!

2. Modes of transportation

Nowadays we are able to travel round the world through anyway we dream of - either sea, air or land with the help of the advancement in technologies!

Traveling in budget has been the easiest and quickest ticket out from ones home land for their overseas experience, at least for countries nearby. I recommend Scoot (http://www.flyscoot.com/index.php/en/) as well as Air Asia (https://airasia.com/) for Asian countries.

For those willing to travel further (and pay more) you can try any of the 28 airlines from star alliances (http://m.staralliance.com/portal/home.do?l=en_US). You would be surprised how far you can go.

For those ego prefer sailing around the world, there are many well know cruise companies like star cruises (http://m.starcruises.com/en/home.aspx) and Royal Caribbean cruises (http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/ports/group/home.do?portCode=SIN) that can help you as well.

3. Money

It's definitely gonna be costly for a round the world trip. The key is to plan and save in advance. Booking during promotional periods can save alot.

Else, entering a contest to win a trip could also solve the problem (nothing wrong getting Lady Luck to help right?)

Or, you could also try these methods - http://www.vergemagazine.com/articles/budget-traveller/15-ways-to-travel-for-free-or-at-least-cheap.html

4. Reason

Everyone needs a reason to travel. Why don't you make it a "just because" excuse rather than something fancy yet easily forgotten "bucket list"

So go ahead, take a break and go round the world like you should. Need more help? Read more at : http://www.lonelyplanet.com/europe/travel-tips-and-articles/76922

Cartoon logic seems legitimate indeed.

Seems legit!

Haha!

It's just a cycle!

Parental guidance

Trailer: http://youtu.be/Hgt5KOVKoqc

Sypnosis: Old school grandfather Artie (Billy Crystal), who is accustomed to calling the shots, meets his match when he and his eager-to-please wife Diane (Bette Midler) agree to babysit their three grandkids when their type-A helicopter parents (Marisa Tomei, Tom Everett Scott) go away for work. But when 21st century problems collide with Artie and Diane's old-school methods of tough rules, lots of love and old-fashioned games, it's learning to bend--and not holding your ground--that binds a family together.

Review: just your predictable family comedy movie the same old predictable moral of the story with brand mention for ESPN and even tony hawk appears. Watch only if you have nothing else to do. Good cast though.

Movie review: Rise of the guardians

Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3OmoPtPp0I&sns=em

Synopsis: When an evil spirit known as Pitch (boggy man) lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians ( Santa Claus, Tooth fairy, sand man, Easter bunny and Jack Frost) must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs, and imaginations of children all over the world.

Review: Rise of the Guardians is a children's equivalent of The Avengers, with its similar premise of mythical heroes coming together to defend the world against a dastardly villain.

The animation and voice overs were impressively flawless. The actors also knew how to act their roles.

Overal: 4.5/5 stars. Best animation film ever bringing out the child in you.

Being pretty on the inside rather than the surface level.

Beauty as defined by dictionary.com;

1. the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest).

2. a beautiful person, especially a woman.

3. a beautiful thing, as a work of art or a building.

Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?

Beauty, as a universal concept, has no intrinsic and/or set meaning, definition or even value for that matter. Or if you like, it is a collectively undecidable notion, since its definition is inherently and purely observer-based. It also implies that "to each its own". In other words, each individual may interpret the idea of beauty (of people, objects, thoughts, etc.) according to his/her own biased, genetic, emotional, cultural, social and spiritual needs, proclivity and predilection. Having said that, most people feel they "intuitively" know and "understand" what is meant by beauty in their mind's eye. That is to say, when it comes to judging people’s physical good looks for instance, they can agree on a general consensus of what it is to be beautiful. And that's exactly where the politically-oriented and money-driven media plays its most self-righteous card - constantly bombarding us with retouched images and brainwashing us into accepting their artificially-enhanced symmetrical lines of human design as the universally preferred ones. I for example, much prefer the true lines, looks and feel of a REAL woman - one that has a bit of an asymmetry here and there, one where her natural and inner beauty and loveliness compliments her physical contours and makes you feel like you truly belong in her heart - than the one the media tries incessantly to shove down our throats. The world of high fashion, for instance, may think that those anorexic-looking, frozen-impression-plastered runway models that walk the hideous gate of “tortured legs” are the hottest things since the sliced bread – but we can (and often do) beg to differ with them, can’t we? :-)

Invest in your relationship, not on that diamond or that branded dress and 5 star hotel for your wedding.

2013, The start of a new year.

The usual bright and loud celebrations on the eve of the new year with close friends and family to welcome the prosperous brand new start exactly when the clock strikes 00:00.

Everything feels new for the first week or so. Everyone remembers their new year resolutions, everyone behaves their best just like a primary 1 kid starting his/her first day of school. Everyone's a new person who is positive and happy.

So what happens to the rest of the year?

Those who really (I mean honestly) get through their life fulfilling all their resolutions for the year; KUDOS to you to finally learning the art of resolutions and many more years to fulfilling your dreams.

But how about the rest of us? What really happens to last (or last last) years "baggage"? Do we carry forward these unfulfilled resolutions or just simply forget them?

I too was once like everyone. The famous lose weight resolution and other crappy goals didn't work at all. Until one day I realized the true meaning of setting New Year's resolutions.

It all started on 31 Dec 2008. I made a bad move to study material science during poly days as it did not give me any kind of career or studying opportunities. The industry for material science was either still relatively small or mainly for degree holders. Schools that offer degrees for this course were only NTU and NUS back then. There and then, wiping my tears away, told myself from now on, I need to be determined. I need to put my mind into my goals and ambitions and set one very realistic goal per year. I made a goal to only study something that (1) interests me, that (2) was something I was good at and most importantly (3) something practical in which I could earn a living from. Hence my double degree from Murdoch (even fully sponsored by myself) and stroked my resolution off the list!

31 Dec 2009 was when I decided I should concentrate my energy (mainly my whole life!) to school and make sure I pass this degree without failing any modules. That was done but unfortunately I neglected my diet (I'm a blown up fat buffalo now!!)

31 Dec 2010. I was into my last year of studying my degree then. I made this one resolution that I need to get my degree certification by this year and start working in a job relevant to my studies. Both resolutions were fulfilled by then and there was a third surprise of him proposing to me came as a sweet topping on the cake that year.

31 Dec 2011. i decided i should focus my energy on finding a new job that pays me at least a decent amount a degree holder would ask for. next i wanted to travel around the world. thirdly i wanted to focus on settling down in life. Well, i got a good job with my desired pay, travelled to 5 places and to an ang mo country (cameron higlands, bangkok, phuket, sydney, jakarta) and manage to finalize my wedding plans with my parents.

So what are my 2013 resolutions? Simple of course. (1) get married (ROM) (2) stay in new house (3) see snow!! But I do want to lose weight for the wedding so the last one will be (4) I will exercise at least once a week.

I think 1-3 easy to achieve but I'm gonna struggle with 4. Lets see how it goes.

so how about you. What do you plan to do for the new year? What are your realistic resolutions?

If you need a little bit more motivation, i kinda find this article a very good read: http://m.dumblittleman.com/2013/01/88-simple-new-years-resolutions-that.html/
